The Popcorn Ceiling Removal Process, Step by Step

What happens from the time we show up to the time we leave.

We handle most of the prep on our end — plastic sheeting, furniture covers, HVAC protection — but a little preparation on your side goes a long way. Here's what we recommend before the crew arrives.

  1. Clear the room as much as possible. Remove small furniture, decor, and anything fragile. We can work around large pieces like beds and sofas, but the more open the space, the faster and cleaner the job.
  2. Take down ceiling fans and light fixtures if you can. We can work around them, but removal makes the job cleaner. Make sure the power is off at the breaker.
  3. Give us good access. Make sure we can get to the rooms without navigating around clutter in hallways or on stairs.
  4. Let us know about any ceiling concerns. Water stains, soft spots, or areas that look different from the rest of the ceiling are worth pointing out at the start so we can assess before we begin scraping.
  5. Plan for some noise and wet work. Wet scraping is messy. We contain it as much as possible, but there will be some dust and debris during the process.

We walk through each room at the start of every job and confirm scope before picking up a scraper. If anything looks unexpected, we flag it first.
